College For Kids at Aims Community College is celebrating 32 years of summer
educational fun in 2012 with a very special curriculum. This year, students
entering grades 2 through 7 can take two classes each week for just $180 per
week, which includes lunch. Classes run Monday through Thursday, from 8:30 a.m.
to 3:30 p.m., at Aims Community College, 5401 W. 20th St., Greeley,
CO 80632.
LOOK FOR REGISTRATION TO BEGIN ONLINE APRIL 16TH
Classes are held from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm each day. You can drop off your child
as early as 7:30am. Classes end at 3:30 pm and you must have your child
picked up by 4:00 pm.

Video Game Design (1)!
Make your own video game that you can take home and play! Design an interactive
2D game on the same software used at Aims for this college class. Create and
edit graphics, use sprites from popular games and develop your own multi-level
type of maze game, plat-former, shooter, flying or tank game to impress your
friends and family. Basic drag and drop scripting is used to create game
interactions, and to determine player actions and outcomes. The program offers
extensive features for game creation and design. Students will use their
imagination, artistic talents, and technological skills to create something fun
and interactive, while learning how to promote their game on the web.
Lights! Camera! Action (1)!
Who
wants to be a star? Students in this fun, interactive, and hands on class will
be able to use all of the TV, Radio, and Recording equipment that the pros use.
Students will have the opportunity to become recording stars, shoot and edit
music videos, talk live on the real Aims radio station, and even create their
own radio and TV newscasts! You learn how operate the cameras and equipment
while also being the star of your own productions. This fun and exciting class
is a great way to get your hands on the latest music and video production
equipment in the Communication Media department at Aims Community College. And
to top it off, you’ll be able to take home the audio and video tracks you create
to share with your family and friends. Quiet on the set!.......Action!
Crazy Science (1)!
Discover the mystery, fun, and mind-blowing experience that is Crazy Science!
Students will make ooey-gooey slime, watch clear liquids magically change color,
make super bouncy balls, invent their own carbonated drink, shoot off rockets,
and more fun lab experiments. Students will be exposed to concepts such as:
Chemical Reactions, Viscosity and Rate of Flow, Polymers, Temperature,
Electricity, Pressure and Newton’s Third Law of Physics. Students will engage in
problem solving activities and discover what it is that makes all of these crazy
things happen. The best part is most of these experiments involve every day
household items so you can share them with your friends and family. It is
recommended that students who chose this option wear “play clothes” or clothes
you don’t mind getting a little messy.
Computer Animation (1)!:
Kids of all technological backgrounds will get a crash-course in Computer
Animation where basic animation concepts and principles are taught. Students
will create stop-motion animation using cut-outs, toys, clay and a camera. They
will learn how to rot-o-scope animation using Photoshop and live video
sequences, and also use basic storytelling and cinematographic techniques in
this fun filled hands-on workshop. Once they know their stuff, they will put
their skills to the test and make their own creations as individuals or in
groups. Students will be able to take home copies of their creations!
Art and Crafts (1)!
Come join us for art that is fun and exciting. We will doing lots of projects
like: Piñatas, burlap weaving, dream catchers, finger painting, 3-D sidewalk
chalk, paper masks, clay masks, blow painting, tie-dying, string painting, X-Ray
painting, collage, mural painting, spray paint projects, treasure boxes, tissue
paper flowers, salt painting, and yarn painting. Some other possible projects
may include mock stained glass, Aboriginal dot Paintings, weaving, printmaking,
spray paint T-shirts, frescoes, painting mosque, clay pots and ceramics . And if
you want to do a special project please let us know and we will try to do
it. You’ll also get to display your art for others to see and then take it home!
Students will be encouraged to follow not only their imagination and inspiration
but also that of other students in the class.
PHOTOGRAPHY!--Picture Your Story:
Students as individuals, or in partners or small groups, will create, write and
illustrate their own original graphic stories using photographs that they
take. Direct instruction will include use of digital cameras, photography
techniques, creative idea generating, writing skills, proofreading and editing
skills, and use of PowerPoint program to put the creation into print. Take great
pictures and use your imagination! Students will be able to take home the
finished product.
Materials: If students have digital cameras and USB drives, they are encouraged
to bring them, but these are not required and will be provided for use. Students
should be prepared to do some photographing outdoors. This program will be team
taught by a professional photographer and a certified English teacher.

Crazy Science (2)
**This class will be similar to the one offered in week 1; however returning
students are welcome to take it again and continue to learn new science
concepts. You do not have to take Crazy Science (1) in order to take this class.
Students will make ooey-gooey slime, watch clear liquids magically change color,
make their own eraser and super bouncy ball, invent their own carbonated drink,
make a glowing blue concoction to examine why fire flies glow, make a dinosaur
grow to many times its original size, and more fun lab experiments. Students
will be exposed to concepts such as: Chemical Reactions, Viscosity and Rate of
Flow, Polymers, Temperature, Pressure and Newton’s Third Law of Physics. It is
recommended that students who chose this option wear “play clothes” or clothes
you don’t mind getting a little messy.

The program is designed for

Minimum/Maximum
Seats in classes are first
come-first served. A minimum number of students is necessary for us to
financially afford to offer a class. Based on the enrollments decisions will be
made as to which classes will be held.
Cancellation of Class
If a class is cancelled
based on lack of sufficient enrollment, parents will be notified by phone and/or
email.
Cancellation Refund
Full refunds are
automatically granted and mailed upon cancellation of a class. Processing takes
three to six weeks. Check
will be made payable to the student.
Student Drop Refund
In order to get a refund you must withdraw on or before the Tuesday prior to the
start of the next weeks classes.
Attendance
For the health and general
safety of our students while at Aims Community College, please notify the
College for Kids Office,
(970)339-6213 if a student will be absent. It is the parent’s responsibility to
pick up students immediately after class session. Students found loitering or
unattended will be escorted to the Continuing Education Office in the College
Center and the parents contacted.
Drop Off and Pick Up Locations
This year’s drop off and pick up location will be in the General Services
Building on the main campus of Aims Community College, 5401 W. 20th
St., Greeley, CO 80632. The General Services building is the building on the
far west side of the campus. Come in the middle doors of the building.

start at 8:30AM. You may drop out as early as 7:30AM. You may
pick your child up any time after 3:30PM, but all children MUST be picked by 4PM.
Campus Hours
College for Kids classes are Monday-Thursday 8:30
am – 3:30 pm.
Accommodations
Any participant who identifies himself/herself as an
individual with a disability (mobility, visual, hearing, learning, mental,
emotional, speech, or health) should notify us at least a WEEK before a
course begins.

attending the College For Kids program, I hereby assign to Aims Community
College all rights in and to any photographs, motion pictures, videotapes,
audio recording and/or written depictions created in the production of Aims'
