Intensive English Curriculum

Grammar

Grammar is the key to understanding, speaking, reading

and writing English.  In the grammar classes, we study all tenses and parts of speech.  Grammar is reinforced in individual, pair and small group activities that involve speaking, reading and writing.

Reading

Our classes teach students many skills and methods that allow them to read a wide variety of materials with increased comprehension and speed, while also expanding their vocabulary.  Students read for enjoyment, as well as to develop their ability to understand (in English) whatever topics  they wish to read about.

Listening/Speaking

Listening/Speaking classes focus on the communication skills of pronunciation, listening, speaking, and using

idioms.  Pronunciation involves work on vowel and consonant sounds as well as intonation, rhythm and stress in words and sentences.  Listening, speaking and grammar are reinforced through lots of talking in pair, small group and class activities.

Writing

In our classes, students progress from writing simple sentences and paragraphs, to composing essays and research reports.  We teach students a step-by-step writing process, that develops their thinking skills as well as their abilities to edit their own writing.  We also read many examples of writing from students and professional authors.
