Aims is offering a
Pharmacy Technician certificate program

Aims Community College is partnering with
Boston Reed College to offer a 27-week certificate program in Pharmacy
Technician. Pharmacy Technicians assist pharmacists in packaging and mixing
prescriptions, maintaining client records, assisting with inventory control
and purchasing as well as coordinating billing. The program prepares
students for the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Board exam.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the need for Pharmacy Technicians
is expected to grow 32 percent by 2014. The average salary for Pharmacy
Technicians in our region is approximately $35,000.
“Bringing this program to the community will fulfill several needs,” said
Program Director John Hutson. “Pharmacies are looking to employ well-trained
pharmacy technicians, and students who earn their certificate through Aims
will be prepared to enter a stable career that pays well.”
